The Varsity Match Company is pleased to confirm that former British and Irish Lions internationals Hugo MacNeill (Oxford Blue) and Rob Wainwright (Cambridge Blue) will form the speaker panel at this year’s Spirit of Rugby Hospitality at Twickenham.
You can enjoy the pair’s unique memories from their rugby playing days and the exclusive surroundings of Twickenham’s premier hospitality suite with friends and family or colleagues and clients.
Hugo studied economics at the University of Oxford, and played in three Varsity Matches, captaining the Oxford team in 1983. He went on to play 37 times for Ireland, and played in all three Test matches on the Lions tour of New Zealand in 1983.
On leaving Oxford, Hugo worked initially for the Boston Consulting Group and later for Goldman Sachs. In 2000 he returned to Dublin where he continues to work for Goldman Sachs as a director of their investment branch in Ireland.
Rob read medicine at the University of Cambridge on an Army bursary, and while at Cambridge he got blues in Rugby and Boxing. He got his first cap for Scotland in 1992, and played in 37 times for his country in all back row positions.
He played in the 1995 World Cup in South Africa, went on to be Captain of Scotland and was a British Lion in 1997, playing in the final test of the victorious tour of South Africa. Rob left the Army in 1999, and now runs a farm on the island of Coll.
