Kate Marks named 2018 Cambridge women’s captain

Cambridge University Rugby Union Football Club (CURUFC) have today announced that Kate Marks (Murray Edwards, History) has been elected as the 2018 Women’s Captain.

Kate started at scrumhalf in the 2017 Varsity Match victory, and was also the outhalf in the 2016 contest. In the summer of 2017 she was selected as one of a small group of ambassadors aged 18-21 from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, to travel to New Zealand as part of the British and Irish Lions Tour.

Kate will be supported in her role by the new Women’s Team Manager Mary Coleman (King’s, HSPS). Mary is also a veteran of two Varsity Matches at Twickenham, having started at inside centre in 2017 and outside centre in 2016.

Kate and Mary will be following outgoing Captain Lara Gibson ((Lucy Cavendish, Veterinary Medicine) and Team Manager Sophie Farrant (Emmanuel, Veterinary Medicine).

The men’s and women’s Varsity Matches return to Twickenham on Thursday 6 December 2018.
