We are Leonard Cheshire – supporting individuals to live, learn and work as independently as they choose, whatever their ability. Led by people with experience of disability, we are at the heart of local life – opening doors to opportunity, choice and support in communities across the globe.
Like our founder, we believe that diversity creates a world of possibility. Through pioneering research and innovation we are building a fairer, more inclusive society. One that recognises the positive contributions we all make, and where we are proud to play our part.
Leading by example, we do everything humanly possible to empower people to live their lives as freely and as fully as they choose.
WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation, is the leading global charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales and dolphins. Our vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.
We have staff and dedicated networks of volunteers based in the UK, US, Germany, Australia and New Zealand and South America who defend these remarkable creatures against the many threats they face through campaigns, lobbying, advising governments, conservation projects, field research and rescue.
WDC currently works on a range of campaign areas including:
• Ensuring healthy seas, including tackling the major issue of ocean plastic pollution
• Ending hunting and commercial whaling
• Tackling the issue of bycatch and accidental entanglement in fishing gear, which kills an estimated 300,000 whales and dolphins every year
• Ending the cruel practice of keeping whales and dolphins in captivity
